Asthma Signs And Symptoms – Clear Signals Of Danger Ahead
Asthma signs and symptoms are different with many people, like some patients may suffer rapid breathing, non-stop coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath which can at times be as fatal as death. Others may have symptoms like tightening of neck and chest muscles that can cause pain, and the patient would feel trouble while talking and may have anxiety attacks. They may have sweating and a pale face due to excessive coughing and constant shortage of breath.
Asthma is a chronic disease of the bronchial tubes of the airways of the lungs. At the time of attack the muscles tighten, and swelling in the tubes takes place, due to production of thick mucus that blocks the free flow of oxygen to the lungs. This cannot be cured but can be controlled if better care is taken. Thus the asthma patient can lead a normal life while managing Asthma Signs and Symptoms.
Asthma signs and symptoms can appear in any one at any time. Especially women and people under the age of forty or children living in damp and cold surroundings may suffer recurring allergies, which if not taken immediate care of, can lead to this fatal disease. Smoking or living in smoky environment may cause children and sensitive people who have poor immunity to cope with microbes like virus become the main victims of asthma.
Some Irritants To Asthmatic Patients
Asthma signs and symptoms can be triggered by allergens like the hair, skin, cockroaches, moles, dust mites found in house dust, and carpets, pollens of flowers, grass and trees. Few irritants that can make the asthma patients uncomfortable are cigarette smoke, air pollution, severe smells, and candle smoke, scented products, air fresheners, paint or cooking odor. Even drastic changes in the weather conditions or change in air temperature, like if you move out from warm environment to cold one, can set the trigger for an asthma attack.
Few medications also give bronchial irritation which may cause inflammation and swelling in the tubes, thus giving a dreadful choking experience to the patient. It may become a cause for this disease as well. Basically mismanaged or infected air pushed into the lungs, which causes severe coughing at times, can lead to this ailment in those who live in surroundings where contagious diseases are rampant. Severe flatulence of the stomach due to some allergic food additives can be one of the main triggers causing heavy breathing in patients, leading to a deadly attack of asthma.
Strong emotions like laughing loudly for some time or crying hard, shouting, running, and all those activities which cause mismanaged breathing, are some of the most common asthma signs and symptoms. Playing with pets or traveling through domestic animal sheds and barns, damp and dusty places, or even a gasp of breath at an unpleasant site can become instigators to asthma. This can be taken care of if managed timely, by maintaining mental balance and identifying some early warnings of the attack through regular meditation and experience.
Some asthma signs and symptoms are a running nose, coughing, and irritation in throat, sleeplessness, sneezing constantly for some time. All these symptoms can even start when a person gets out of his warm bed and stands barefoot on the cold floor. Cold, cough and severe illness can cause bronchitis, and if proper care and medication is not taken, may lead to asthma. Coughing or breathlessness, unresponsiveness to medication needs serious attention. Persistent pain in chest and neck while coughing or vomiting should be consulted with the doctor. Cyanosis is indicative if lips and nails turn blue in color. This needs immediate hospitalization in case of a severe attack of asthma.
