What Causes Asthma?

Asthma is a problem that affects people of all ages and sex. No matter who you are, there is a good chance that you know somebody who suffers from this problem. Although asthma is not something that you want, the good thing is that it can be controlled with the help of a qualified doctor. With that being said, do you know what causes asthma? Even though most people have heard of this, the majority of them have no idea what the cause is.

First and foremost, it is thought that genetics has a lot to do with asthma. In other words, if one of your parents has this health problem there is a chance that you will as well. Of course, this is not the only cause, but one that should definitely be considered when dealing with this issue at a young age. So many people think that it is their fault that they are suffering from asthma, but all in all, this is far from the truth. With a genetic problem like this, there is no way of avoiding it.

There are many environmental factors that may also cause asthma. For instance, this can include everything from certain allergens to tobacco smoke. If your breathing problems are triggered by these factors, the best thing to do is try to avoid them at all costs. While this can be difficult to do, there are some things that you can try.

Exercise asthma is also quite common. As you can imagine, this problem comes about during heavy and intense exercise. For people who suffer from this type, being able to pace themselves is the key to keeping things under control. Of course, exercise asthma can also be aided through the use of an inhaler. While you should not quit exercising because of this, taking the time to learn about asthma is very important. After all, you need to know what to do if an attack presents itself while you are exercising.

Believe it or not, a lack of exercise can also cause asthma. The way that this works is quite simple. When you do not exercise your airways do not need to stretch nearly as much. In turn, the muscles in the airways tend to contract which means that minor irritants in the air will become much more bothersome. So as you can see, not only can too much exercise cause asthma, but the same can happen on the other side of things as well.

Overall, there are many causes of asthma. If you think that you are suffering from asthma, your best bet is to get in touch with your family doctor. He or she will be able to give you advice and medicine to help you control this common problem.
