When it comes to the cause of asthma there is a lot to know. Even if you do not suffer from this problem, there is a good chance that you know a little something about it. The fact of the matter is that asthma effects millions of people, and it may very well touch close to home sooner or later. When you know the cause of asthma you will have a much better chance of treating it with a high level of success.

Asthma is caused by an inflammation in the airway. While this may sound easy enough, what you really need to know is what causes this inflammation. As you can imagine, when you can avoid your airway from getting inflamed, you will then have a much better chance at controlling your asthma day in and day out. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this, but there are plenty of measures that you can take in order to protect yourself.

One of the biggest causes of asthma is exercise. Although this may sound silly, some people get an asthma attack when they are trying to do good for their body. If this is something that you are up against, you will want to talk to your doctor about ways you can solve this problem. Just because you are suffering from exercise related asthma does not mean that you want to stop working out altogether. If you do this, you are sure to run into other health problems that can work against you.

Another common cause of asthma is smoking. This holds true not only for people who directly smoke, but also for those who are around second hand smoke on a regular basis. If you are having this problem, the first thing that you will want to do is quit smoking. Sure, this is going to be hard, but if you want to control your asthma it is something that you have to do. If you do not smoke, but are affected by the second hand variety, you should try to avoid areas where you will come in contact.

Finally, allergens can also cause asthma attacks. Unfortunately, this holds true both when indoors and outdoors. The good thing is that this can be controlled inside the home by keeping windows closed, and getting rid of any carpeting that may college these allergens.

There is not only one cause of asthma. This can make it hard for you to figure out exactly what is going on. But with the help of your doctor, you should be able to pinpoint the cause of your asthma soon enough. When you do this, you will be in much better position to find a solution.
