Asthma Triggers

Are you aware of the asthma triggers that are out there? If you suffer from this common problem, hopefully you answered yes. When you know what causes your asthma you will have a much better chance at avoiding problems with it in the future. Although there is no way of saying for sure that you will be able to totally control your asthma, you should at least do what you can to give yourself the best chance possible. With so many asthma triggers out there it can often times be difficult to nail them all down. But remember, there is a good chance that not all of them will negatively affect you.

One of the most common asthma triggers is exercise. This may sound ridiculous, but if you are an asthmatic you know that this is true. Too much exercise can lead to inflammation in the airways, which can then lead to an asthma attack. If you suffer from this type of asthma, you will want to make sure that you always have an inhaler around when you are exercising. This will allow you to treat your attack if one should come about.

Another common asthma trigger is allergies. Some people suffer from this problem worse than others, and all in all, it is one of the worst types of triggers that you can have. As you can imagine, the bad thing about allergies is that they can come up at anytime. Sure, you can control allergens in your home, but what happens when you leave for the office or mall? The best way to deal with allergy triggers is to see if your doctor can prescribe a medicine that is used as a preventative measure.

Another asthma trigger to be aware of is cigarette smoke. This holds true not only if you smoke yourself, but also if you are around second hand smoke on a regular basis. Smoke is an irritant that can cause your airways to inflame. In turn, an asthma attack is not going to be far behind. Even if you do not smoke, you should still try to avoid any areas where you know you may be subjected to this.

Knowing what triggers your asthma is half the battle. Once you know why you are having asthma attacks, you can then do whatever it takes to get the problem under control. For some people, determining their asthma trigger is not easy to do. If you are having a hard time pinpointing this, get the help of your doctor.

There are many asthma triggers to be aware of. When you know the triggers that are out there, you will then have a much better chance of avoiding them.
